Taps™ Odor Control Air Scrubbers
scope
1. 1 Under this
item, contractor shall supply and install to
manufacturer's recommendations, a
Model M2 Taps™ Odor
Control Air Scrubber as shown on contract drawings and
specified hereunder.
MATERIALS &
DESIGN
General
2.1 The scrubber and all
components exposed to a corrosive environment shall be
manufactured of corrosion-proof material suitable for
atmospheres containing hydrogen sulfide and dilute
sulfuric acid as well as other gases associated with
wastewater collection and processing.
Vessel and
Internal Components
2.2 The vessel shall be
manufactured of high molecular weight, high-density
polyethylene resin, and be in full compliance with
DOT/UN regulations. It shall have a lever-lock style of
clamp ring with security feature. The air distributor
and internal ducting shall be of Acrylonitrile Butadiene
Styrene (ABS) plastic.
Cover
2.3 The molded cover body
shall be made of ABS plastic which meets Federal
Standards of LP 1183. Cover fittings shall be made of
ABS plastic. The manufacturer shall install a gasket of
closed-cell Neoprene under the cover rim.
Fan
2.4 Fan shall be tested
and approved by UL, CSA, or equals. Motors shall be
120V, 1 phase, 60 Hz, operating at 2700 to 2750 RPM with
maximum watts of 87. Motors shall be pre-wired with an 8
foot grounded power cord, shall be 100% speed
controllable and carry a two-year factory warranty. Fans
shall be suitable for air-stream temperature of up to
140° F and shall deliver a nominal maximum of 85 CFM at
1.25" static pressure. Interior installation fan
housing shall be of UL recognized thermoplastic resin.
Exterior installation fan housing shall be of galvanized
steel with baked powder-coat finish.
Gate Valve
2.5 Gate valve shall be
3" and be constructed of PVC with a polypropylene blade
that adjusts from unrestricted flow to closed.
Media
2.6 The scrubber shall
contain 7+ ft
3 of media. which shall consist
of a mix of Taps™ Oxidizing Granules and other media
capable of oxidation and/or absorption and adsorption of
malodorous gases in the air stream. Oxidation reactions
shall produce solid by-products which are deposited on
and within the media. The oxidative and absorptive
capacities of the media shall not be diminished by
ambient humidity.
INSTALLATION
3.1 Contractor
shall install scrubber following manufacturer's written
instructions, shop drawings and requirements of contract
documents.
FIELD TESTING
& TRAINING
4.1 Contractor
shall measure atmospheric H
2S in ppm at the
intake and exhaust of the scrubber and calculate removal
percentage.
4.2
Contractor shall adjust speed control to optimum setting and
instruct owner. "Optimum setting" shall be defined as
that which maintains a negative pressure at the lowest
possible CFM airflow.
